| Types of Implant Treatment |
|
There are many types of implant treatment available for patients today. Whether you have been wearing full dentures and want to 'convert' to a more stable implant denture , or it is suggested you place single or multiple units of implants for dental treatment, the options today may be overwhelming. It is a good idea to seek a dentist that has a lot of experience and involvement in the area of not only implant placement, but the understanding of the prosthetic replacement (teeth) as well to ensure you have a pleasant and 'smooth' experience during your treatment. There are many implant systems available in the market today for your dentist to choose from. There is not one system that is appropriate for every case. Dentists that handle many implant cases recognize this and more than likely will keep a variety of systems available. The longer an implant has been in the market, there is documentation of issues that may have occurred and your dentist should be aware of such. There is 'immediate placement' of implants and of course there are times in which patients will require more than the basic to ensure a successful outcome and may have to have implants placed after other procedures are performed. It is sort of like 'building the foundation' of a house. If you do not ensure the stability of the foundation, the house will fall. In most cases, you will be able to leave your dentists office with teeth in your mouth. This should all be decided during your treatment planning phase. Every patient wants something different, and certain cases may have limitations so the patient heals properly. This can only be decided by your dentist. How wonderful to have the choice of a Single Tooth Replacement. We no longer need to destroy perfectly healthy teeth on either side to place a bridge when we can now place an implant in just the area requiring care!! Our patients who converted their regular dentures to implant dentures have told us that getting Implant Dentures has been one of their happiest moments They are no longer embarrassed by those awkward moments when eating something 'more difficult' and having their dentures 'slip out.' The stability of the implant denture has opened a whole new world of comfort for them. |
